Advance the Ability of Creating from 0 to 1 in the Era of Innovation

Edmund S. Phelps, a Nobel Laureate in Economics who has focused on "mass entrepreneurship and mass innovation" in Mainland China, said that Mainland China's innovation engine will both generate employment, create social value, and enable society as a whole to flourish, and this is where Mainland China's service industry needs to focus.

Why innovate? Innovation gives companies the opportunity to lead the pack in the market and find their niche, thus increasing their competitiveness, which is a perpetual topic for all companies. This new programme of product innovation and service design focuses on three main areas:

  1. Initiate creativity, plan proactively and proceed with implementation.
  2. Practise the process, understand the users and keep upgrading it.
  3. Build your own system, with agile synergy and open innovation.

Testimonials

"Studying again after nearly two years of working, not only did I have more clarity in my career expansion, but most importantly, I met more and better teachers and students in different fields and learned more and better knowledge from everyone, which is helpful to me in my future life planning and my behaviour. Once again, I would like to thank all the teachers and every one of my classmates, and especially all the students in IPSD BJ7 for their support and encouragement!"

张鹏 (PISD BJ7) —资产管理公司 副总

"When I think of innovation, I always think of risk-taking, but shouldn't there be a systematic theory and method for innovation? It was with this question in mind that I came to HKU Institute for China Business. During the learning journey, the teachers used inspiring teaching methods to help us break out of our old thinking patterns and frameworks and made me realise that learning should involve more questioning and reflection, a process that allows us to better break through and innovate, and better understand the latest theories and practices on innovation."

王加胜 (PISD SH10) —上海蒙特梭利教育集团 创始人、蜗牛慢爬品牌管理公司 创始人

"The biggest change for a marketer in studying PISD is that when you start to have a product mindset and are able to better integrate front-end marketing ideas and needs with back-end product development, you will find that product innovation happens more quickly, marketing plans are more effective in converting users, and many of the previous situations where communication between departments failed or repeatedly hit a wall become less likely to happen. As for me who is ready to invest in my own business, it has helped me to have a clearer direction in choosing products and projects, and my teacher's guidance has helped me to think more deeply and comprehensively about the problem and reduce the risk. ”

郑婷婷 (PISD SZ9) — 广州宝洁有限公司消费者洞察部 市场研究总监

"After taking the first class of the Product Innovation and Service Design programme, I found it the best investment I have ever made. I wanted to learn more about the market, the laws of business, how to do user research, how to use design thinking to design my own products, optimise the user experience, and how to reduce costs and iterate on my products quickly. The Product Innovation and Service Design programme was the perfect fit for my needs. During my time at the HKU Institute for China Business (HKU ICB), I have gradually identified and established my future career direction - parent-child music education. After my study with the HKU ICB, I am planning to continue my studies in music education next year to enrich my professional knowledge. Meanwhile, offline, I have started to work with major theatres to organise concerts and music salons. My motto is: Learning by doing. I thank the HKU ICB for making me grow and become more determined, and for turning me from a freelancer to an entrepreneur!"
