Dr. Tim Pan was the former Senior Director of Microsoft Research Asia responsible for the lab’s academic and industrial collaborations in the Asia-Pacific region. Tim Pan led a regional team with members based in China, Japan, and Korea engaging universities, research institutes, industrial partners, and certain relevant government agencies. He established strategies and directions, identified business opportunities, and designed various programs and projects that strengthened partnership between Microsoft Research and academia or industry.

Dr. Pan earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He has 30 years of experience in the computer industry and has co-founded two technology companies in IC design and large banking systems. He served as an independent board director for Far Eastone Telecom in Taiwan, owns CISSP certificate, and frequently speaks or lectures on computer technology and high-tech entrepreneurship.
