Professional Programmes
Looking to the future, the HKU Institute for China Business (HKU ICB) remains committed to nurturing outstanding talent for China. Its professional programmes across four major academic streams, namely Innovation and Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management and Human Capital Management, will introduce a range of innovations in response to emerging international and domestic trends and evolving landscapes.
- Implement the 4P educational philosophy, comprising “Professional”, “Prospective”, “Practical” and “Problem-solving”, to nurture interdisciplinary professionals with the 5i attributes: innovation, internationalisation, independence, integrity and impact;
- Deepen interdisciplinary education by complementing the core professional curriculum with elective modules, broadening students’ horizons and strengthening their overall capabilities;
- Offer students maximum flexibility in planning their learning journeys and building professional networks through cross-regional classes and a credit-based system;
- Advance enterprise case-based teaching by taking students on visits to benchmark companies and facilitating dialogue with entrepreneurs and senior management. These experiences encourage deeper reflection and enhance learning outcomes.

Residential Workshop The Residential Workshop offers HKU ICB’s distinctive international and interactive learning experience across regions, disciplines, cultures and industries, bringing new students together on HKU’s historic campus. Featuring business leaders and university lecturers, the workshop combines thematic lectures, off-campus visits, group presentations, expert dialogues and other diverse activities to create an immersive learning experience. It enables students to broaden their global perspectives and opens the door to knowledge integration and innovation through exchange and collaboration. Professional Programmes The curriculum comprises ten compulsory professional modules. In addition to experienced HKU faculty members, the teaching team includes senior executives from renowned multinational corporations and experts and scholars from leading universities worldwide. Together, they provide students with comprehensive professional theories, forward-looking insights and practical guidance. Elective Modules Outstanding business leaders need more than in-depth expertise in their own professional fields. They must also possess the potential to develop a broad range of skills. The elective modules give students the flexibility to demonstrate their talents, explore new interests and identify the capabilities that will strengthen their professional competitiveness. Enterprise Study To further advance enterprise case-based teaching and strengthen learning outcomes, students visit corporates and engage directly with real-world business practices. These enterprise visits form an integral part of HKU ICB’s distinctive and comprehensive learning experience. Final Project As the capstone of the programme, the Final Project is completed through group collaboration. It is designed to integrate students’ understanding and application of the research and methodologies covered across the core modules. While students take the initiative in their learning and research, project supervisors provide guidance and support throughout the process. Graduation Ceremony Graduates gather with their families and friends at HKU’s Main Campus to celebrate the successful completion of their studies and the beginning of a new chapter in life. Reuniting on campus from different regions, students reflect on the effort, progress and personal growth that have shaped their journeys, while looking ahead to a broader future amid applause and warm wishes. |
