Professional Programmes
Looking to the future, the HKU Institute for China Business (HKU ICB) remains committed to nurturing outstanding talent for China. Its professional programmes across four major academic streams, namely Innovation and Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management and Human Capital Management, will introduce a range of innovations in response to emerging international and domestic trends and evolving landscapes.
- Implement the 4P educational philosophy, comprising “Professional”, “Prospective”, “Practical” and “Problem-solving”, to nurture interdisciplinary professionals with the 5i attributes: innovation, internationalisation, independence, integrity and impact;
- Diverse learning experiences, including thematic lectures, interdisciplinary knowledge-sharing sessions led by HKU faculty, corporate engagements, and seminar discussions, broadening students’ perspectives and enhancing their overall competencies;
- Offer students maximum flexibility in planning their learning journeys and building professional networks through cross-regional classes and a credit-based system;
- Through corporate exchanges and seminar activities, participants will gain an in-depth understanding of Hong Kong’s unique strengths as an international financial centre, an international innovation and technology hub, and a hub for cultural exchange between China and the world.

![]() Residential Workshop The Residential Workshop offers HKU ICB’s distinctive international and interactive learning experience across regions, disciplines, cultures and industries, bringing new students together on HKU’s historic campus. Featuring business leaders and university lecturers, the workshop combines thematic lectures, off-campus visits, group presentations, expert dialogues and other diverse activities to create an immersive learning experience. It enables students to broaden their global perspectives and opens the door to knowledge integration and innovation through exchange and collaboration. Core Modules The curriculum comprises ten compulsory professional modules. In addition to experienced HKU faculty members, the teaching team includes senior executives from renowned multinational corporations and experts and scholars from leading universities worldwide. Together, they provide students with comprehensive professional theories, forward-looking insights and practical guidance. Diverse Learning Experiences Through thematic lectures, interdisciplinary knowledge-sharing sessions led by HKU faculty, corporate exchanges, and seminars, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Hong Kong’s unique strengths as an international financial centre, a global innovation and technology hub, and a bridge for cultural exchange between China and the world. Complemented by corporate and institution visits in both Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland, as well as cross-disciplinary networking activities, the programme provides opportunities to engage directly with industry leaders, experience real-world business environments, and integrate academic learning with business practice, creating an immersive learning experience with both global perspective and practical value. Final Project Presentation As the capstone of the programme, the Final Project is completed through group collaboration. It is designed to integrate students’ understanding and application of the research and methodologies covered across the core modules. While students take the initiative in their learning and research, project supervisors provide guidance and support throughout the process. Graduation Ceremony Graduates gather with their families and friends at HKU’s Main Campus to celebrate the successful completion of their studies and the beginning of a new chapter in life. Reuniting on campus from different regions, students reflect on the effort, progress and personal growth that have shaped their journeys, while looking ahead to a broader future amid applause and warm wishes. |
