In an era of diversified competition, in addition to the pursuit of comprehensive, systematic and complete knowledge, the provision of inter-professional elective modules (individual modules in other disciplines taken in addition to the core curriculum) in diversified education is a feature of many world-class universities, and can be a very helpful part of the learning and growth experience. Elective Modules are designed to provide a foundation of knowledge and skills and inter-professional knowledge to complement the breadth of a student's knowledge, while at the same time expanding and deepening the content of the compulsory programme and providing opportunities to develop potential skills and strengths. Interdisciplinary elective modules broaden the variety and scope of the curriculum offered by the School, making it more diversified and dynamic, and reinforcing its relevance to the contemporary world of knowledge. By allowing students to choose from a range of subjects outside of their main subject area, elective modules provide a distinctive edge to a student's qualifications and aid in personal and professional growth in a diverse range of ways. Elective modules can also be used to broaden one's portfolio of specialisations and support possible future multi-industry professional development.
Today's entrepreneurial excellence requires not only a deep commitment to their vertical specialisation, but also the potential to develop multiple skills. Elective modules help participants to identify and develop their own potential areas of endeavour, whether it be work specific to their current career position, or the possibility of future advancement, the elective modules provide the space for participants to find their own professional competence by showcasing their talents and trying to develop new interests.
