The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a huge impact on the global healthcare industry and awakened the public to the importance of healthcare. After the pandemic, the development opportunities of the healthcare industry, and how to seize them to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of institutions and enterprises have become the key directions of the healthcare and medical industry.

With the continuous increase in China's per capita income and the trend of aging, the medical and health industry has ushered in historic development opportunities and has become one of the industries with the greatest development potential in China, with huge room for development. The continuous reform of the medical and health industry has brought a series of opportunities and challenges: The reform of the DRG/DIP payment method has put forward higher requirements for the refined management and efficiency improvement of medical service institutions; Volume-based purchasing has promoted a significant drop in drug prices, allowing medical insurance to tilt more toward innovative drugs and devices. Both medical institutions and medical companies need continuous innovation to enhance market competitiveness and adapt to changes in the medical market.

In addition, with the widespread application of big data, artificial intelligence and other technologies, the medical industry is undergoing a new era of digital transformation. By applying these technologies, medical institutions and enterprises can achieve more accurate diagnosis and treatment, and improve the quality and efficiency of medical services.

As managers of a medical service institution or medical-related enterprise, their management philosophy and operations' standard directly determine the prospects of development. This is especially important in today's healthcare industry, which places higher demands on the managers of healthcare institutions. Based on the actual situation and specific environment of healthcare institutions in Mainland China, this programme aims to combine the advantages of Hong Kong as a meeting point between Mainland China and the West with advanced foreign management theories to provide healthcare managers with latest industry knowldge as well as systematic and professional training, to think strategically about current healthcare management issues and challenges, to acquire modern management knowledge and leadership skills required for healthcare leaders, and to expand the network and contacts in general health industry.
