Dr Wang Yong holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Xi'an Jiaotong University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Dalhousie University in Canada. Currently, Wang Yong serves as the Chairman of Tianfeng Securities International (Hong Kong). He is a financial executive with an international perspective, boasting extensive experience in working successfully with regulatory agencies, corporate boards, executive teams, and industry peers. Previously, he held positions as the Chief Risk Officer and Chief Information Officer at Tianfeng Securities, Chief Risk Officer at Everbright Securities, and Managing Director in the Risk Department at the Royal Bank of Canada. Additionally, he served as Deputy Director of the Risk Management Professional Committee of the Securities Association of China.

Wang Yong is a Specially Appointed Expert of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and a Ph.D. advisor at Renmin University of China. He also holds the position of Visiting Lecturer at the Zijing-Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. In 2012, he received the Global Chinese Financial Elite Award for his influence in financial derivatives. In 2014, he was selected as a National Distinguished Expert under the “Thousand Talents Plan,” which is the highest honorary title established by the state for attracting high-level overseas experts.

Wang Yong has built a strong reputation in China’s financial literature, covering areas such as risk management, capital markets, blockchain, and artificial intelligence. He has authored and translated several finance books, including Financial Risk Management, Risk Management and Financial Institutions (authored by John Hull), Options, Futures, and Other Derivatives (also by John Hull), and Machine Learning for Business. These books have been adopted as textbooks by domestic universities. His 2016 translation of Blockchain has been reprinted 21 times over the years by CITIC Press and is considered a best-seller in the blockchain field.

Wang Yong has also collaborated with various universities and institutions, previously serving as a lecturer for the Tsinghua University North America EMBA program, as a Visiting Professor at Beijing Institute of Technology, as an instructor at the China Capital Market Institute, and as a Visiting Professor and EMBA lecturer at the University of International Business and Economics.
