Dr. Xia is currently a tenured full professor at the College of Business of California State University. Prior to that, Dr. Xia worked for various multinational companies such as Ticketmaster, the exclusive ticketing service provider for the Olympic Games, where he was responsible for financial investment management in China and Hong Kong; OSI Group, a McDonald's system provider, where he was responsible for acquisitions and financial management in China and Asia Pacific; and The Coca-Cola Company, where he was responsible for marketing operations in East China. Dr. Xia has over 17 years of experience in operations, marketing, financial and investment management.

Dr. Xia also has extensive experience in the healthcare education and training. He has been the Secretary General of the Shanghai Healthcare Management Association since 2005, and was responsible for the training and assessment of the Ministry of Health's national registered healthcare management professionals in Shanghai, and has been elected as a member of the Health and Insurance Professional Committee of the China Medical Association and the Shanghai Association of Science and Technology.

Dr. Xia obtained a Bachelor's degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University, a Master's degree in Management from the University of Houston and a Doctoral degree of Business and Administration from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Dr. Xia was awarded the 2015 HKU SPACE ICB Outstanding Teacher Award in recognition of his passion for teaching.
