Buddhism and Contemporary Life Workshop----Theory, Meditation and Practice

Mode and Schedule:

Part-time Mode, 30 hours of teaching, 5 days. 

Location:

These modules will be held on the HKU Campus and in Hong Kong temples

Medium of Teaching:

Mandarin Chinese; supplemented by English

Scheduled Inauguration:

May 10-14, 2024 (*January's workshop rescheduled to April.)

Due to the pandemic and other uncontrollable factors, the institute reserves the right to adjust the teaching arrangements, including the location and start date of classes.

Limited admission of 40 on a first-come, first-served basis      
 

The purpose of the workshop is to equip one to deal with life challenges by applying Buddhist life wisdom through theory and meditation practice, hence, improving one's physical and mental health.

  • Buddhism and Happy Life
  • The Application of Buddhist Meditation and Mental Health+ Meditation
  • Buddhist Counselling: Introduction to Theoretical Framework, Scientific Evidence, and Actual Practice +Guided Tour+ Meditation
  • Day of Mindfulness + Visit the Plum Village HK & the Big Buddha

Teaching Members’ Qualifications

The entire workshop is taught by a team of top Buddhist professors from the Center of Buddhist Studies, The University of Hong Kong; the meditation sessions will be guided by the Hong Kong Plum Village Dharma Teacher sand/or registered Professional Buddhist Counsellors, recognized by The Hong Kong Buddhist Association.

Statement of Achievement

Upon completion of the course, a Certificate of Statement of Achievement will be co-issued by the University of Hong Kong Institute for China Business and Centre of Buddhist Studies to all participants who have fulfilled the requirement.

Step 2   Application Submission

Email the completed application form, company business card to icbinfo@hku.hk

Step 3   Review

  • After receiving all applications, we will review the application within 1 week.  
  • Successful applicants will receive the "Letter of Acceptance" from the Institute after passing the vetting process 
     

Step 4   Payment and Registration

  • Applicants are required to pay the tuition fee to the HKU ICB bank account within the period specified in the "Letter of Acceptance" to reserve their place and complete the application process.
  • Registration arrangements will be notified in advance and the original ID will be verified during registration.
  • Review of all applicants will be conducted according to the order of their applications and places are subject to final confirmation by the Institute.

Students are responsible for their own accommodation and transportation during their attendance of classes.
