Mr Kumo Chiu was one of the first Chinese designers to hold the position of Industrial Design Director in an international company and has over 10 years of successful experience in international companies. From 2001-2006 he held the position of Design Director for Asia at Motorola, where his Asian design team was also the most creative at Motorola, with the Taiji smartphone series being the best-selling model in the Chinese market.
In 2007, Mr Chiu set up Ideadao Design in Beijing to serve both Chinese and international high-end clients. As a benchmark company in the industrial design industry, Ideadao Design has successfully assisted Chinese companies such as Lenovo, ZTE, Haier, BOE and Skyworth to go global from China with the design quality of international companies. We have also assisted international companies such as Samsung, Philips, Marvel, INTEL and Genius to enter the Chinese market. Among these companies, Skyworth was led by Mr Chiu from 2008-2013 to achieve great success in the Chinese and international markets with design reform, and the Skyworth design reform experience has become a classic case in the industry.
Mr Chiu is currently the only design leader in the Chinese design industry to have won the German Red Dot Design Grand Prix, the international industrial design Oscar, three times. Due to his extensive experience and reputation in the design industry, he has been a visiting professor at Taiwan's Shih Chien University, Beijing's Tsinghua University School of Fine Arts, Central Academy of Fine Arts, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and Beijing Institute of Fashion and Design for over 10 years. Many of the design talents trained by Mr Chiu are now working as design directors in China or internationally renowned companies. As a result, Mr Chiu is often invited to be a judge for well-known design competitions at home and abroad, including the iF Design Award in Germany, one of the three most influential international industrial design awards, and the Red Star Award, the most credible award in China.
In 2008, Mr Chiu began his career in China's cultural and creative industries and has been involved in the development of some of China's top cultural IP creative products such as the Forbidden City, National Peking Opera, Dunhuang, Beijing Gifts, Nanjing Cloud Brocade, Wudang Mountain, Summer Palace, Yuanmingyuan, and the Return of the Great Sage.
Based on his rich Chinese cultural knowledge and experience in international companies, Mr Chiu has devoted himself to the development of an integrated Chinese industrial design and creative goods ecosystem. From the top level of cultural and creative design methodology and design talent training, to the middle level of product design and production supply chain integration, to the end of the online and offline sales channels combing and opening up, the design team led by Mr Chiu has won high praise in the Chinese cultural and creative design field. In 2019, Mr Chiu was appointed as an art design consultant for the Forbidden City Cultural and Creative Exchange Centre in Beijing, where he set up a team to establish the process and ecosystem for the development of the Forbidden City's cultural and creative products. product design and development process and ecological chain system, design and development of cultural and creative goods with elements of Forbidden City characteristics.
