Ms Cecilia Lou joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2006. She currently serves as a Board Member of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Services Association (SIPSA) and the Licensing Executives Society (LES) China. She is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and the International Trademark Association (INTA).

Ms Lou specialises in intellectual property (IP) matters and cross-border technology transactions, with over 25 years of professional experience across a wide range of technical fields and industries. Her expertise spans manufacturing and electronics, aircraft and aviation, energy, new materials, steel and alloys, semiconductor manufacturing and equipment, medical devices, computer software, health management, food and fast-moving consumer goods, chemical engineering, bio-information technology, and the pharmaceutical industry.

She is highly skilled in providing advisory services related to intellectual property in business transactions, including IP due diligence, freedom-to-operate (FTO) investigations, IP risk assessments, technology investment evaluations, corporate IP white paper preparation, and competitive technology analyses. Ms Lou is proficient in assisting clients with patent filing strategies, ownership arrangements, the establishment of inventor reward and remuneration systems, and incentive mechanisms for key personnel. She also provides business streamlining and innovation analyses to support companies in listing applications.

Ms Lou has extensive experience in IP strategic planning and dispute resolution, particularly in patents, trademarks, trade dress, and trade secrets. She frequently represents clients in negotiations and assists in the development of effective corporate IP management systems.

Ms Cecilia Lou obtained her Bachelor's degree in Engineering from Dalian University otlechnology in 1992, majoring in Engine Engineering and minoring in Electroniclechnology. She eamed her LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from the John MarshalLaw School in Chicago in 2008 and MBA from Fudan University in 2021.
