Mr David Liu is the Programme Director of Artificial Intelligence & Business Transformation (AIBT) at the HKU Institute for China Business. He brings over 15 years of multinational management experience, with a long standing focus on data analytics, business intelligence (BI), and AI driven business transformation, dedicated to enabling the strategic adoption and scalable application of advanced technologies within organizations. 

Prior to joining the HKU Institute for China Business, Mr Liu held senior leadership roles at several leading global enterprises, where he led the development of data  and AI driven business intelligence decision systems and the design of BI platforms embedded with AI capabilities, empowering organizations to improve efficiency across key areas including operations, marketing, and customer experience. He previously served at Amazon as Head of Business Intelligence, where he led multinational data teams to leverage big data to optimize logistics and fulfilment, enhance user experience, and refine cross border e commerce operating strategies. He later joined JLL as Head of Data Operations, where he built, from the ground up, a four pillar operational framework encompassing sales, products, users, and data, successfully enabling the commercialization of digital products for a startup business unit. In addition, Mr Liu has held key roles at Discover and DiDi, where he advanced strategic execution and customer experience in complex market environments through the development of digital customer service systems, platform based operating strategies, and automated competitive intelligence tracking systems.

Mr Liu is particularly skilled at bridging complex technical architectures with actionable business strategies, with extensive hands on experience in digital transformation, commercialization, and cross border team leadership. He holds a MS degree in Statistics from Rutgers University, and an MBA in Technology Management from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and Master of Corporate Real Estate (MCR®).
