Mr Wing-Ching Shih

Mr Shih was born in Shanghai in 1949 with ancestral roots in Ningbo, Zhejiang, he moved to Hong Kong at the age of four. After completing his education at 19, he dedicated eight years to the field of education. In 1978, he co-founded Centaline Property Agency. Under his leadership, the company expanded into the mainland China market in 1992.
The Centaline Group established by Mr. Shih has grown into a major real estate services provider with operations across mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taipei, and Singapore. The group boasts over 2,000 branch offices and a workforce of more than 50,000 employees. Beyond his corporate role, Mr Shih has actively served the public, holding positions such as member of the Hong Kong Housing Authority, the Hong Kong Strategy Development Commission, and the Hong Kong Estate Agents Authority. He was also appointed as a member of the Hong Kong Economic Opportunities Committee under former Chief Executive Donald Tsang.
Deeply committed to social welfare, Mr Shih has engaged extensively in charitable work. As a member of Oxfam Hong Kong, he personally participated in poverty alleviation projects in mainland China, including visits to Yunnan and Guizhou to introduce improved crop varieties and livestock breeds to local farmers. He has also supported educational initiatives through organizations like "The Seed Project." In addition to mobilizing the Centaline Group in philanthropy, he has contributed to the construction of three School Hopes in Hunan and Guangdong. In a significant move in 2008, Mr. Shi transferred all his personal shares in three companies, including Centaline Property Agency and Centaline (China), to the Shih Wing-Ching Charitable Foundation to further advance social causes, with a particular focus on supporting farmers' livelihoods, education, and healthcare in mainland China.
Furthermore, in 2005, Mr Shih founded the free newspaper am730 in a private capacity. He regularly contributes columns to the publication, where he not only comments on current affairs but also shares his insights on business, management practices, and life philosophy in an accessible manner, earning widespread popularity among readers.
